Defenders of the Rights of Sexual Minorities — Sodomites, Decided to Join Euromaidan!(?)

The initiative group for the protection of the rights of sexual minorities — sodomites in Ukraine announced its intention on 11 January to march from Bessarabian Square to Independence Square and join the Euromaidan.
“We intend to join the peaceful protest of citizens that is now taking place on the Maidan. Therefore, on 11 January at 12:00, our march will begin from Bessarabian Square to the tent camp, where we will also set up our tent and join the protests, because we want to live in a tolerant European society where everyone has the right to self-expression,” said activist of the Initiative Group for the Protection of the Rights of Sexual Minorities in Ukraine Margo, reports UNIAN.
According to her, 50 participants have expressed a desire to take part in the action.
When asked where the representatives of the Initiative Group plan to place their tent, Margo replied: “Wherever they allow us, we’ll put it there. For now, this is a symbolic action; if they accept us, we will stay as representatives of our community.”
At the same time, she noted that the participants are somewhat afraid of manifestations of intolerance.
Coordinator of the Initiative Group for the Protection of the Rights of Sexual Minorities in Ukraine Sofia Gukova noted that the group is not an officially registered public organization.
“We are people brought together by common interests, and we got acquainted on social networks,” she said. According to Gukova, the initiative group had been meeting for two weeks “in order to come and talk about themselves.”
Activist of the Initiative Group for the Protection of the Rights of Sexual Minorities in Ukraine Yury Grigoriev, in turn, noted that its representatives demand that opposition Ukrainian politicians return to the consideration of draft law No. 2342 “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Cessation of and Counteraction to Discrimination in Ukraine” and adopt it in order to confirm their striving for the establishment of European values and to show the world their tolerance.
Responding to the question why the representatives of the initiative group did not speak out in support of the Euromaidan earlier, Grigoriev said: “From the very beginning, not a word was said on the Euromaidan about the topics we are now addressing, and that is why we did not join the Euromaidan.”
“Now the Maidan has a passive character in the direction of signing the Association Agreement with the EU, the topic of the attack on the well-known journalist Chornovol has been heavily promoted, and the issues we are fighting for are not being touched upon at all,” he said.
“We want to bring the question of joining the EU back again, about European values, and to change society for the better,” added Margo.
When asked whether the action on 11 January could be a provocation, Grigoriev said that “if people are conscious and can adequately assess the situation, they will understand that this is not a provocation, but simply one of the elements of the Euromaidan.”
To the question that the noted action might provoke representatives of “Svoboda” to some actions, Gukova replied: “We do not declare anything that could cause hostility.”
Recall that on 21 November, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “in the interests of national security” ordered the suspension of the process of preparation for the conclusion of the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Zone with the EU.
After that, mass protest actions began in Kyiv and a number of other cities of the country, which are continuing to this day.
During discussions of the situation in Ukraine, the issue of homosexual rights has already been raised. Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov stated that before Ukraine is admitted to the EU, it will have to “legalize same-sex marriages, adopt a law on the equality of sexual minorities.”
In response, the head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Jan Tombinski, stated that “it is not a matter of being more tolerant, first of all, towards sexual minorities — sodomites. It is about solving the problem of discrimination in general.”
In November, the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Alexei Pushkov, stated that “following the release of Tymoshenko, the EU will demand that Ukraine expand gay culture. And instead of Victory Parades in Kyiv, there will be gay parades.”
