First US Congressman Registers Same-Sex Marriage
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick Officiates Same-Sex Marriage
The first American congressman officially registered his marriage with his male partner on Saturday evening, Interfax reports, citing the Boston Globe. Barney Frank, a 72-year-old US Democratic congressman, had long openly lived with his gay friend, 44-year-old businessman Jim Ready.
The marriage was officiated by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. The registration ceremony was attended by about 300 guests, including Senator John Kerry and Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.
