KGB propaganda film 'The Pharisees' of 1986

The propagandistic, anti-religious, anti-Protestant film Pharisees was edited by a director from the KGB at Lenfilm in 1986. It is anti-Protestant because it presents the ROC’s Orthodoxy as its allies. And two “Orthodox priests” as false witnesses–defenders of the Soviet system. Protestants are represented by two undecided rock musicians who “repent” of collaboration with Western intelligence services. This film, which promotes Soviet lies, is the latest typical “masterpiece” from the KGB.
In the film, during the 1986 “Leningrad–Seattle spacebridge,” some “religious figures”—Judases, collaborating with the atheist authorities—take part in the propaganda machine against those who remained faithful to the principles of the Gospel and were at that time in prisons and camps. Two “Orthodox” priests, who lie shamelessly, traveled abroad and said that they could not even imagine that with such a constitution any persecution could exist—that it was simply impossible! You can see how these “religious figures”–Judases twistedly lied at a time when over 600 people were in camps for their religious and Christian human rights activities.
Before this, you had the opportunity to read the Document with a “Secret” Classification. A shocking KGB revelation on methods of fighting the church – for the Primorsky Krai Committee of the CPSU, where the KGB reports to the party leadership what they actually did in the churches: they destroyed, isolated, compromised, and discredited.
Notice with what blasphemy and contempt the USSR’s KGB calls believers hypocrites, Pharisees, and bigots (no, not saints!). How they “expose” the corrupting church of America! Exactly like their faithful disciple, the slanderer-“exposer” Alexander Sinitsky from Zhytomyr. Similarly, he labels Christians as hypocrites, including me, having no right whatsoever, being an outsider serving the interests of intelligence services and the religious mafia. Just as in the film, the KGB seeks out and hunts for negatives, trying to justify its work as a provocateur, executioner, and blasphemer.

Next, in the second part of the film, the trial of the rock group “Trumpet Call,” orchestrated by the KGB in 1984, shows two young Protestants for whom religion consisted entirely of playing heavy metal rock. It is known that electronic guitar music was first introduced into the church by the KGB during the charismatic Tallinn Wind in the late 1970s, thereby starting a gradual decay of the evangelical movement from within. They were not allowed to play heavy rock in the Leningrad Baptist Church (I recall we were once thrown out of the Baptist church for playing a guitar—heavy rock was out of the question!), so they decided to flee abroad. These young people at that time did not understand who they were, had not decided what they believed in, what they hoped for. They are shown as an example of those who were truly persecuted, allegedly just like the rest. They are the kind of people used by Soviet propaganda: with them a shadow is cast over the more than 600 believers who really did time for their religious convictions. Of those 600 people (240 of them were Baptists, 175 Pentecostals, the rest Adventists, Orthodox, Ukrainian Greek Catholics, True Orthodox, and others), not a single one was filmed, because they would not cooperate with the KGB and remained steadfast in their convictions.
The young people who could not explain why they were being persecuted or why they could not legally leave the country also cast a shadow on those who legally sought an end to persecution or emigration abroad for religious reasons.
On the basis of these two individuals, the KGB propagandists labeled everyone “hypocrites.” This is anti-religious lying propaganda—turning everything upside down. Creating an antipode (that is, distorting): a person who sacrifices themselves for the highest love of God and neighbor is called a Judas, a person who defends their religious principles is called a liar, a hypocrite.
Note: this was already the beginning of perestroika—1986. The agony of Soviet power—the Union would soon collapse, yet they still gripped the church by the throat and used Judases with slander against the church and God’s work! Imagine what was happening 10 years before that! And what was happening 20 or 30 years before that!
Today there are faithful followers of this Soviet propaganda, the slanderer-“exposer” from Zhytomyr. Reread the “secret” archives and compare with this video. These two Orthodox figures say it’s unthinkable for the state to interfere in the church, and compare how the KGB reports to the party, how they actively interfere. So who is the hypocrite?! How lying was the system in which we lived!
In the video sequence, believers in the USSR are shown churches in the West (look who you are addressing!), that there are only Satanists and some perverts there—not a single normal church was shown! And to frighten people, to keep them from complaining, they show that all who turn to the West for support and help immediately come to the attention of the CIA, intelligence, and so on. And these two young people are shown to mock those who appeal abroad for support—saying they are just as much hypocrites as these.
