Pages of History: Document — classified 'Secret'. Shocking revelation of the KGB about methods of struggle against the church — for the CPSU Territorial Committee
15.01.2012 21:03
Pay Attention! In these documents, everywhere—a common thread runs through one and the same task – the KGB’s goal: to compromise, discredit, undermine, sow discord, liquidate!!!
How is this done? — In this vivid report to the Primorsky CPSU Krai Committee, nothing is concealed—that’s exactly why it’s secret! With murderous frankness—words and phrases leap out: “..through our capabilities..” “ ..in order to create a split in their midst..” “..an atmosphere of mutual distrust..” “..compromising the ringleaders..” “..contributed to the discrediting..” “..compromising of antisocially minded sectarian ringleaders..” “..An atmosphere of mutual hostility introduced!..” “..measures of decomposition!..”
“..‘prophecies’ were spread!..” “..influence advantageous to us..” “..additional disagreements introduced..”
And all this for what? For this! To deprive them of support, to deprive them of followers, to deprive them of the means to act, to sow doubt—that this is God’s work, to force them into silence, to make them bend, to compel them to step aside! And not the least of the aims is vengeance.
So that everyone may know: No virtue remains unpunished!

**
**The church leadership in the document is referred to as: “ringleaders,” “chiefs,” “authorities.” That is, the church is associated with a gang—as a hostile, antisocial element subject to liquidation! Because faith in God and the Church are incompatible in Soviet-atheistic society!
The report reads like a report on military successes, like a dispatch from the front. Only the front ran through our mortal bodies and immortal souls!
Let the reader discern the spirit of that time, for this is not yet the end! (Matthew 24:6 and Mark 13:7)
**
**To fight the Church, the Fifth Directorate of the KGB used a simple but effective set of “instruments of influence,” and these are still used to this day! I will demonstrate this on the basis of a document stamped “Secret,” or more precisely, a memorandum in the form of a report—from the Regional KGB Directorate to the CPSU Krai Committee—on the work carried out in the religious environment of Primorsky Krai to combat religion, through the disintegration and discrediting of the leadership via its agent network recruited from among the believers themselves.
Genocide of Protestant “Criminals”
So, have you read it? Now let’s analyze; we’ll start with the simple and proceed to the “interesting”—the astonishing revelations from the KGB! :
Take note, we are all referred to as nothing other than sectarians. — Back then it was a stock cliché of Soviet propaganda: sectarian means prone to crime, a stupid underachiever, a moral pervert (recall how the love feasts were written about in the newspapers—as sexual orgies!). Further, a sectarian is an American spy and saboteur, a savage who sacrifices children—most often his own! In caricatures—a sectarian always wears a quilted jacket and a fur hat with earflaps, in one hand, as a rule, a bloody axe, in the other, a Bible with a huge cemetery cross. It is in such tones that the report is composed, so as not to violate the “culture” of the official Soviet propaganda about sectarians.
Further:
The KGB Directorate directly presents faith in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, prophecy, visions, and other spiritual manifestations as fanatical manifestations, but in undisguised fear it acknowledges—“this is the spiritual weapon of the Church,” used against the godless—atheistic Soviet regime. And therefore, on the first page it is noted that 39 local Pentecostals, mainly from Nakhodka, have been convicted of state and other criminal offenses.
I want to explain for the uninformed:
What are state and other “crimes”? The state ones include Art. 70—anti-Soviet propaganda, Art. 190—“slander” of the Soviet system (well, when you said there was no freedom in the USSR), Art. 227—refusal to register, that is, for violating the legislation on religious cults! “Other criminal” were simply fabrications—any articles of the Criminal Procedure Code. So, if we analyze the chronology of imprisonments, we will definitely find that prisoners with repeated terms, as a rule, were charged with so-called state crimes, as well as “other criminal crimes.” This was to humiliate them and put them on the same level as common criminals. A vivid example:
I. P. Fedotov received his first term for an alleged attempt at human sacrifice!
The second—for alleged hooliganism!
And only the third—for violating the legislation on religious cults!
So, before this secret document was drawn up, there were 39 of us who had gone through the GULAG—to the glory of God and for the liberation of the people, and this is the period from 1959 to 1983, not counting what happened after 1983 until the EXODUS, so to speak—toward the final curtain of the USSR’s existence, five more prisoners were added!
Thus, in less than thirty years, we count forty-four prisoners! Of them, five were convicted twice, two three times, and one four times! So to this we must add another ten trials. And this does not count the children taken away, the fines, the loss of jobs, the direct restriction of access to education. And they also “felt shy” about indicating how many had been repressed earlier, before Nakhodka—during the whole godless Soviet period. Only those who perished in camps or were shot—in the families of the Nakhodka church there were 27, and nobody counted the deportees and those sentenced to forced labor!
Now calculate: out of five hundred members, over less than thirty years. That means almost every tenth person went through the GULAG!!! That means—almost every family was repressed. For the sake of fairness, I note: as a rule, the same families were repressed from generation to generation, and repeatedly—so to speak, family continuity. Others, throughout those hard times, were bypassed—also a kind of continuity.
For example: Fyodor Sidenko (the “record holder” for convictions)—he himself was convicted four times, first in 1960, and then with short breaks until 1987, and his son Pavel served five years. The Arbuzov family: grandfather Tikhon served ten years for his faith, one son also served ten, another was shot, his grandchildren the Stepanovs: Pyotr served two terms, Alexander and Vladimir one each. Afanasy Raylan served three terms, two of his brothers were shot, his son served one term. Frosya Bresenden served ten years, her only son Evgeny was placed in an orphanage, and then he too served three years. My own family: my grandfather Viktor was shot as a pastor, my grandmother’s brother Alexander was sentenced to be shot, grandmother Evgenia was tried—the family was deported, my mother grew up in exile, and then she too was tried three times—not counting the exile, I was convicted twice, my wife also twice.
Now judge for yourselves—these were not Stalin’s times, officially—not the worst times, that is, in the historical imagination, not the worst times after the repressions of 1937—when the communists were destroying each other!(?) From the report it is glaringly evident that we, in the USSR, by not submitting to the godless authority and its criminal laws—that is, by keeping our faith in God and faithfulness to Him—became, according to Soviet legislation, a criminal people!
As you can see, we were treated as criminals! For us, the year 1937 lasted throughout the entire period of the USSR, and it ended—for some only after the EXODUS, for others with the collapse of the USSR! That is why we sought the EXODUS!
When composing this document, the Fifth Directorate of the KGB was aware of its informational gravity and significance, which is why they stamped it—secret. Because the document exposed a direct conspiracy-plan—against the people of God for physical and spiritual annihilation,—this is called GENOCIDE!
In short—let the reader understand—the spirit of that time.
The “Capabilities” of the KGB—Carnal Christians
Further on, we frequently encounter murderous revelations from the KGB. For example, page 4:
“…At the same time, through our capabilities, corrupting measures were carried out among the emigration-minded, with the aim of creating a split in their midst, an atmosphere of mutual mistrust**, and compromising the ringleaders**…”
That’s how it was—frankly: Corrupt from within, organize a split, compromise!(?)
And it was in such a situation, in such an environment, that we lived and acted!!!
“…To the bulk of the believers, information was fed that compromised the ringleaders from a moral and mundane side; ‘prophecies’ were spread about the inexpediency and sinfulness of leaving the USSR..…”
“…Through Pentecostal authorities loyal to the (godless,—my insertion) state security organs, a beneficial influence was exerted on the sectarians..…”
Having read this, do not be surprised, because loyal—to the Soviet godless authority—became those people who had carnal fear, and in such there is no love of God! Such people became easy prey, and subsequently a tool in the hands of enemies, against God’s Work!
What are these “opportunities” through which subversive activities, schisms, mutual distrust, the spread of “prophecies” and the discrediting of “leaders” were carried out? Where do the rumors and gossip come from? You live openly and honestly, walk in the fear of God, give everything to God’s work—why the sidelong glances and spiteful remarks?
First: And this happened because—as Vasily Patrushev put it—“Fear is the father.” Some, for fear’s sake, openly said: Yes, things are bad for us! Yes, there is no freedom! But better to remain in humility, otherwise it will be worse—there’s enough room for everyone in the camps! Others, again for fear’s sake, outright assured—so that outsiders would hear—that in the USSR there was su-u-uch freedom! Su-u-uch freedom that not even America has! And people like me only bring the wrath of the authorities upon the church and upon them as well. No—these people did not work for anyone—they were used! Because the inertia of fear sharpened the instinct of self-preservation, which spoke and worked through them. The most interesting thing is that it didn’t always help them! But the KGB agent network in the church skillfully exploited this—some recruited, some infiltrated. On this basis, as the report puts it: “… a favorable influence was exerted on the sectarians for us ….” For in Christians seized with carnal fear, God’s Love is already absent! (There is no fear in love; perfect love casts out fear—1 John 4:18). So: Ahead lies fear, or the inertia of fear, then you become a victim, and ultimately a tool—in the hands of cunning “spiritual” imitators, dressed in the garb of “God’s prophet and servant.” I will demonstrate this below.
But most importantly! Feel the atmosphere in which one had to serve God and His people. You stand in the breach—defending God’s people, and these people—for the most part—easily accept the enemy’s argument against you! (I understand—for the majority, it’s easier—to survive a difficult time). But we, the minority! have to risk not only our own heads—but also our families! And here you are: it turns out! The work of God—which I am doing—is not God’s at all, and as an argument—a “prophecy,” and not just from anyone and through anyone, but an “authoritative prophet” and even a servant!
For example: “Repent of the sin of insubordination to the authorities! He who is not subordinate to the authorities is not subordinate to God, for all authority is from God! I will strike with death!”
As another example of a “prophetic masterpiece” (from father Slavik—Viktor Radchuk, who traveled across the entire USSR from Rovno to the closed (!) city of Nakhodka to put out the fire of emigration!).
“Thus says the Lord: It is written: All authority is from God! I am “the Lord,” how can you lift your hand and sharpen your tongue to revile the authority—established by “Me”—they are “My” anointed ones, I will strike you and your household!”
There you have it! No small thing!—they are “anointed ones” and I will strike you and your household! Ye-es! Such “prophecies” had an effect; they threw some sincere and at the same time simple-hearted believers into a stupor.
Their reaction: “Well brothers… no-o-o! I won’t do anything more to defend the church; that means going against the authorities, and they—did you hear? They are, it turns out, anointed ones! So God, through them, is strengthening me in faith! Otherwise, God will indeed strike me and my family; I could bear it, but my family!”
In such an atmosphere, one’s head was spinning! Who is a brother, and maybe not a brother, but a Judas, or perhaps a plain coward? Who is a sister, and maybe not a sister, but a provocateur? And where is the enemy, and who is it? Whom to trust? With whom to seek counsel? With whom to pray, where and with whom to inquire and lay one’s need before God?
Now, as you see, it is becoming clear (but we saw and knew this before) that, in addition, there were also “authorities” loyal to the agencies of godless power (that is, advocates from our own milieu for our very persecutors)—who exerted influence favorable to the KGB—against us and God’s work. Did they live on another planet? Were they deaf and blind? No, it was all because of fear! And today almost all of them are here in America!
Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted—2 Tim. 3:12
Introducing Animosity Among Brothers
Page No. 5—this is unique: “….An atmosphere of mutual animosity was introduced between the closest like-minded associates Perchatkin B. and Stepanov V. …”
Now think! Can an outsider introduce an atmosphere of mutual animosity between the closest like-minded associates? Yes, from the outside you cannot do it!
This is done from within, by someone close – an authoritative person or circle – worming their way into trust, posing as a like-minded individual, masquerading as a spiritual person, cloaking themselves in deep religiosity (!), one who “acknowledges and confesses” only pure doctrine, who “follows” the truth and only the truth! It was precisely these qualities that these provocateurs possessed: one was an authoritative “prophetess,” the other a “highly moral” fighter for purity. Just imagine – what a cunning time it was and what it was like for us to live in such a milieu!
Further:
“…Through our capabilities, some of the emigrationist ringleaders, M. Pimenov and V. Mezentsev, were subjected to church discipline and excommunicated…”
They were excommunicated by presbyter Vitmandovsky. Do you now see the spirit of that time? To be excommunicated from the church, you didn’t need to violate un‑biblical principles, you didn’t need to commit a sin unto death! People were subjected to persecution in the church and excommunicated because the church had — “our (KGB) capabilities.” These “capabilities” — unfortunately, in many churches — played a dominant role! No, not the Bible, — but the “capabilities” of the KGB’s Fifth Directorate! God is far away, but the “capabilities” were always close at hand! And for Vitmandovsky, and unfortunately not only for him — that was sacred! But later, he acted, as it were, half‑honestly, — he himself did not emigrate — his conscience apparently stirred, but he sent his children and grandchildren to America.
Further, it becomes even more frank and sophisticated on pages No. 5 and No. 6, to which I particularly draw attention:
“…In addition, the criminal prosecution of the authorities had a sobering effect on the mass of believers…”
Pay attention! How they played with the destinies of believers with outright sadism!
In order for something “..to have a sobering effect…” — victims are needed! Finding a victim was not difficult if that person lived by the Gospel truths and commandments, if you walked in the fear of God, then you were a candidate for the GULAG, — so that others would be discouraged — from living according to the Gospel and speaking the truth**. In the opinion of the godless authorities — this method — increased the inertia of fear among believers, and through that — loyalty to the Soviet‑godless‑atheistic regime — and enhanced the aforementioned “capabilities”!
There you have it! The devil’s formula: “loyalty — through fear, born — through repressions!” Here there is open, unconcealed war with God, darkness against light. The presence of one — excludes the other!
The KGB’s Use of the Mass Media for Discrediting
“…In order to exert a positive influence on the mass of believers, they used the mass media…..” “ ….With the aim of exposing the extremist activity of certain Pentecostals, 18 articles were published in the local press (ed. note!), and three (ed. note!) television programmes were prepared in the series ‘The Fourth Problem’ from the cycle ‘And the Cross — a Weapon.’
“…In 1982 we induced the authorities among the “emigrationists” G. Peresadin (‘Specters Fade’, ‘Krasnoye Znamya’), E. Fartuna (‘Hypocrisy Wholesale and Retail’, ‘Krasnoye Znamya’) — and the Pentecostal authority Zuderman B.V. (‘A Lie Twenty‑Five Years Long’, ‘Open Letter to the US Congress’ — ‘Golos Rodiny’ No. 6 – 83) to speak out in print. The articles deepened the existing divisions among the believers, contributed to discrediting the idea of emigration, and compromised the anti‑social sectarian ringleaders……”
Those who compiled the secret memorandum‑report are being cunning. All three of them were not “induced” to write articles and participate in the slander campaign in the media against us, or more precisely, against me. All of them were on the KGB’s hook and were working their passage — hitched up, so pull! For example: only Boris Zuderman signed the publications with his own name; the others — for instance, Zhorik Peresadin — used the pseudonym “Yuri Andreevich.”
Fartuna — “Eduard.” Although there were guesses — who stood behind these names‑aliases, only now everything has fallen into place.
Boris Zuderman
(Please do not confuse him with Boris Zuderman, the Baptist currently living in Germany)
Boris Zuderman, by his own account: He was recruited as early as the NKVD because he was a prisoner of war and first betrayed his fellow Germans who had served in the SS. Later this “fruitful cooperation” was held over him and continued: he “converted” among the Pentecostals, took a believing wife. Zuderman, a gifted preacher and pleasant conversationalist — a seducer. At the very dawn of my activity he entered into close contact with me. He invited me to visit, came himself as if casually, and in return I began to invite him too — he subtly inquired about my activity and even gave advice, seemingly sensible. (Vasily Patrushev distrusted him extremely.) And in 1977, out of the blue, an article by Zuderman appeared in the newspaper “Nakhodkinsky Rabochy”! And after that, things started rolling. In 1982, he simply broke loose in his slander‑making. He even wrote a large article against me to the US Congress, — that I was a slanderer and was rightly convicted. This was a little present he gave upon my release and prepared the ground for my next arrest.
I met with him in the autumn of 1982, between imprisonments. To my question: “Why did you write such slander against me?” He lowered his head and mumbled indistinctly:
-
That wasn’t me!
-
Then who?
-
It was them! — And he nodded toward the district where the KGB building stood.
-
I only gave my consent for the signature. And even that was a formality. You’ll have to forgive me – I can’t refuse them!
(It was then that he told me he had been in the “Hitler Youth,” fought against the Soviets, was taken prisoner – he wanted to live and became an informer for the NKVD, and later they “compelled” him to continue working in the religious sphere.) I asked him: -
What, the people you turned in didn’t want to live? And now, thanks to you, they could still tack on more time for me!… And the other articles – were they also from “them”?
-
Also them! But I told them a bit from our conversation. That’s all! Don’t torment me!
Georgy Peresadin — “Yuri Andreevich”
Peresadin — as it later turned out — had a pathological addiction to money and women, but no one knew that at the time, just as no one knew that while on super-extended military service he had committed a criminal offense (!) and was convicted; no one knows for how long, but he served four years. What crime he committed and what he served time for—he concealed that even from his relatives! His mother was a believer—there is speculation that this was the factor that drew the KGB’s interest to Peresadin. He got a job, or was “placed,” at the same factory where I worked and persistently tried to become not just a friend but a comrade-in-arms. Incidentally, he and Zuderman were great friends. Peresadin was also far from stupid—resourceful and clever. He listened to the “Voice of America” and other “enemy” broadcasts, reasoned quite soberly, and was up to date on events—including those in the church, although he was not a member. In 1976 he offered to get me a typewriter; as you know, these were in great deficit, and besides, all typewriters were registered. But he said he had the opportunity to get a machine that had been written off and removed from the registry. In short—I typed documents on that typewriter in the attic of a house he was building. And later—during the investigation, copies of those documents showed up in my case file. And after I was put away, he let himself go with lies in the newspapers—though under a pseudonym, but many understood from the events that it was him! He lied with abandon! (though most likely his handlers wrote it for him, as they did for Zuderman). For example: that he had been my close associate and that I had taken him to the American embassy—where they nearly recruited him (!), and that after that he understood everything—broke with me and with anti-Soviet activity. “But Perchatkin! is definitely a CIA agent – he’s a witness.”
The fact is that from 1977 on I broke off all relations with Peresadin; he was never with me at the embassy.
Why I broke off all relations with him: after Peresadin, through me, sort of began to take part in human rights activities, he started attending meetings and unexpectedly quickly announced that he should be accepted into church membership! Many knew of his unchaste lifestyle. Therefore, he also zealously repented at every meeting. He was immediately taken under the wing of the “prophetess” Valya, who, as would later come to light, had her “abilities” actively directed and used by the Fifth Directorate of the KGB. They fed her information, she would “prophesy,” and of course—it would come true! Later, through her, many associates were set against each other and the church was practically destroyed.
But with Peresadin, she did not succeed back then.
So, Peresadin declared that, with Valya’s support, he had received spiritual baptism with the sign of other tongues, which served as proof that God had forgiven him everything and there was no reason to delay accepting him into church membership.
After the meeting, we asked Peresadin to stay for a talk. To our surprise, Valya and her group of prophesying ones also expressed a desire to stay to support Zhora; they argued, “He is our sheaf!”
After a short conversation, Vasily Patrushev invited Zhora Peresadin to pray.
Zhora began to pray confidently, and suddenly he started breaking into mooing sounds: “Oo-oo-oo. Boo-boo-boo. Too-too-too.”
At that point Valya broke in:
- “Kindle it! Kindle it!”
And Zhora was “kindled”! And how! I remember it as if it were now: - Tuki-matuki! Tuki-matuki! Na booboo-oo-oki-i-i-i! Tuki-matuki! Na booboo-oo-oki-i-i-i!
Vladimir Stepanov took over the “prayer” initiative: - Stop! Amen! What are you blaspheming for?! What “matuki”! What “boobuki”! Valya! — the man is in temptation; here we need to pray for cleansing. What is this? Haven’t you seen this before?
After that, Peresadin had a stormy explanation, and there was no more talk of membership; he lost interest in the church.
KGB Measures: Discrediting Among Fellow Believers at Home and Abroad
Page No. 7 is unique; here in a small space, much is revealed, if not everything! Including what is happening to me today:
“Given that the leader of this group, B. G. Perchatkin, after serving his sentence in 1982 did not renounce his antisocial actions….. His illegal actions have been documented and he has been brought to criminal responsibility…… which is used in measures for his discrediting among fellow believers in the country and abroad”
I draw attention to the blatant cynicism and thuggish impudence, how everything is so ungenially simple. It turns out! I was sent to prison for the second time for this reason: — “…Given that the leader of this group B. G. Perchatkin, after serving his sentence in 1982, did not renounce his antisocial actions…” How simple it all is for them! And what if he had renounced them? Then there would have been no criminal case! And since he did not renounce them, my “illegal” actions (read—“illegal” actions means seeking religious freedom or the EXODUS).
So! Unlawful actions led to preventive detention. The investigation was conducted by the Military Prosecutor’s Office — they were “stitching up” a treason charge — investigator Khlopov would say: “We’ll put you away anyway — and we’ll find what for; the sooner you sign, the less you’ll get in the teeth! If you don’t sign, we’ll send you to your Lord.”
The result of the investigation — since I have the habit of not signing anything and not betraying anyone — is seven teeth knocked out, five ribs and my left collarbone broken! Not counting the “swallow” and other investigative “procedures”! After that, four months in a death‑row cell. Fortunately for me, it began to smell like perestroika. So they sent me to Kolyma, giving me at first a year and a half, and then, after the fact — by decree — another equally long term.
For me, here — another revelation: the document was drawn up in 1983. At that time I was arrested a second time — ahead of me lay an exhausting and sadistic investigation, and then a strict‑regime camp №4 on Kolyma. I would get to the USA only five years later, and they were already compromising me not only in the country but!!! (?) also abroad! (?) How caring and provident! Unique! And I used to wonder: why were such incredible stories about me going around!?
«…..After Perchatkin’s second conviction, as a result of the measures carried out, additional disagreements were introduced into his group…… Thus the group lost its ideological inspirers …..»
Here it directly speaks of — “measures to compromise him among fellow believers in the country and abroad”.
So, the conclusion: in each case — the goal of the “measures”:
First – as people said back then: “Where does the Motherland begin? — With the questionnaire in your KGB!” This means to find compromising material — that is, a weak spot and neutralize it; if there is no compromising material — then to intimidate, to slander, that is — to compromise, isolate, deprive of support! So year after year, year after year! Not a day, not a month, but years – nearly fourteen years, and in between — persecution in newspapers, persecution through false brothers and false sisters – as a rule false prophets, persecution through TV, searches, surveillance, flights, arrests, interrogations, torture, beatings, trials, prisons and camps. And in camps — punishment cells, hunger, murderous work and deprivations, deprivations of correspondence, deprivation even of beastly food — leading to dystrophy, deprivation of the right to parcels and visits. In short, reduction to slavery in the worst sense. But !!! all the above‑listed “measures” are not banal conflicts in human understanding. These are “measures” — at the level of Soviet, highly‑qualified special services. This is not done by amateurs — lovers of gossip, but by specially trained professionals — of information warfare, career specialists – psychologists receiving huge salaries. For these “measures” an agent network is engaged, people — called in the vernacular “Judas”. And what is a revelation for me here!
Pay attention! In these documents, everywhere — a single task‑goal runs like a red thread: – Compromise!!! And how it is done — this short but vivid report does not hide. With deadly frankness — words and phrases flash**:
“for the purpose of creating a split in their midst”, “an atmosphere of mutual distrust”, “compromising ringleaders”, “contributed to discrediting”, “through our capabilities”, “compromising anti‑social sectarian leaders”, “an atmosphere of mutual hostility was introduced!”, “disintegrating measures!”, “‘prophecies’ were spread!”, “impact beneficial to us”, “additional disagreements were introduced”.
And all this for what? For this! In order to — deprive of support, deprive of followers, deprive of means to act, sow doubt — that this is God’s work, force to fall silent, force to bend, force out of the way! And not the least goal — is revenge.
So that everyone might bear in mind: Not a single virtue goes unpunished!
