Church apathy — a license for same-sex marriage

Today, the systematic destruction of the family is taking place at the legal level in the USA. The long and exhausting battle for the most expensive legislative amendment in world history (Proposition 8, $83 million), representing marriage as the union between a man and a woman, has ended. After a five‑year struggle, the Supreme Court decided on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, to overturn God’s definition of marriage for the state of California! The U.S. Supreme Court mocks the Supreme Court of the Universe, which long ago voted for marriage between a man and a woman! In the future, generations will remember the names of these judges with dishonor. “He who says to the wicked, ‘You are righteous,’ him shall the peoples curse, nations shall abhor him; but those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them.” Proverbs 24:24‑25

Quite recently, in 2003, the court decision Lawrence v. Texas abolished the criminal status of sodomites in all states. This opened the door to same‑sex marriage. And now, only ten years later, that‑s exactly what‑s in the news! In Canada they said the same thing, alleging that we just want to remove the laws against us. Now, same‑sex marriage has been approved for several years, and Canadian churches are under great pressure for preaching the truth about this sin! Even on the internet, in Canada, you won‑t find anything against it in searches! In Sweden, they have already reached the point of laws approving incest or sexual relations between relatives! Moral perverts do not know how to stop.

Before our eyes, in California, same‑sex marriage has been legalized. What should we, immigrants, do? We are not guilty of the sins of America, right? I believe we are complicit. Living in this country, we have entered into the same covenant with God as the Americans. And we have broken this covenant. Some – actively, others – passively. Do you think if God judges this country with disasters, we will remain untouched? Great responsibility rests on us, because we know the will of God, and we know slavery and freedom!
First, we must repent before God for our personal sins, family sins, and the sin in our midst: in the churches. (Joshua 7, example of Achan) But how can a whole country reach the point of yielding to a bunch of depraved people and allowing them to mock the holy? This happened gradually. First, marriage lost its sacred significance in the family and in the church. From this began the descent into the Sodom valley, that is, the public recognition of same‑sex marriage. The Church has neglected the Word of the Lord! It begins with “the least of these commandments.” (Matthew 5:19) Women pray with uncovered heads (1 Cor. 11:5), parents decided that the Bible is not modern enough, and do not punish their disobedient children with the rod (Prov. 13:24), Christians do not agree with God that children are a blessing (Psalm 127), and use contraceptives so that they can have fun without them for at least a few years! From this begins the distancing from morality and decency. Full mockery of God’s Word begins with simple neglect of it. “What right have you to declare My statutes, and take My covenant in your mouth, seeing you hate instruction and cast My words behind you?” Ps. 50:16‑17 I am afraid to think that perhaps our churches have already begun to walk the path leading to destruction, because among us there are already divorces, drug addiction, and even abortions!

Secondly, as emigrants, we must choose our path quickly. The easiest path is assimilation into American culture and getting lost in the crowd. The majority of believers who have come here are in this number. Their children grow up in the toxic environment of public schools, and the next generation practically does not differ from native‑born Americans. Another path has been chosen by a few of us: to preserve Christian values, to shield their children from brainwashing by humanist and Marxist ideas, through homeschooling or a good Christian school. Some bought farms and moved away from big cities to better preserve their families from the world.

But the best path, which I believe the Lord Himself drew for His people, bringing us here and scattering believing Slavs to all corners of the USA, is not the path of least resistance, nor the path of defense. We need to attack in order to win! In addition to protecting our family and children, we must actively preach the Gospel, and make disciples, wherever we are. We need to constantly align ourselves with the standard of Scripture and correct our personal, family, and church life. But there remains another sphere which also must be under the influence of God‑s Word – the governmental sphere. I understand it will not be easy with our history and prejudices. But since we have come here, we must learn the art of being free! We have a duty to find out WHY America was (unfortunately its freedom is disappearing before our eyes) a free country, and not just enjoy it while it lasts! “And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” Jeremiah 29:7 Prayer alone is not enough. Concern is needed – action. Join those who publicly fight against abortion in your city, preach publicly before the parades of sodomites, and they will cease to strut about with pride (darkness fears the light, this happened in several cities in California), etc. The Church must be salt and light in this decaying society.
John the Baptist did not keep silent before Herod, precisely on the topic of marriage; he spoke the whole truth to his face without fear. (Mark 6:18) Hypocrisy and apathy on the part of Christians is one of the reasons why sodomite “marriages” are being legalized today! Where are the modern prophets? Where are the modern men of faith, like the youth David, who was indignant at the shameful picture of the army of Israel trembling before the blaspheming giant: “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” 1 Samuel 17:26

A battle is being waged for the soul of this country that received us out of communist slavery. That same slavery, like a black cloud, is slowly creeping over this once righteous land. If we do not begin to study the Christian roots and theological foundations of America, if we do not learn to understand Scripture as past generations of Americans—the Puritans—understood and applied it to government, then slavery awaits us, perhaps worse than in the USSR.
Freeloaders — those who take advantage of others for free food, entertainment, etc. Are we really among that category of people?
We must learn the truth of what God says about how we should understand government and apply biblical principles to laws, elections, and state policies. For what purpose has God given it? What does it mean for our good? If a king or president punishes good and encourages evil, contrary to Scripture (Romans 13), must people obey him? Clear answers to these questions have existed for hundreds of years; we only need to read them.
Do you know why wicked people through the US government introduced the law requiring churches to register in the 1960s? So that they would stop preaching election sermons and could not influence the country’s “politics”! As we know, it was precisely in the 1960s that America began to walk the path of destruction.
Sodomites in the streets, Marxists in the schools, and atheists in the governmental offices of the USA are challenging believing immigrants from the former USSR: Will we fight for the precious freedom that believing Puritans won with their blood, or will we merely use it for our own enrichment until it disappears? Let each one answer for himself and get to work. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Rom. 12:21
In conclusion, let us read the Psalm, the essence of which we are obligated to proclaim publicly in this country, before common people and rulers, while there is still freedom to do so:

Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed,
‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.’
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure:
‘Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.
I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, “You are My Son, today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.”’
Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
