American Nostradamus: 'In Three Years There Will Be a Revolution in the USA'

Nightmarish Predictions of a Modern Prophet-Economist.

Except maybe cannibalism won’t happen…

A certain Gerald Celente is striking fear into America. He predicts that as early as 2012 the country will be gripped by a depression far deeper than the “Great” one of 1929.

Crowds of unemployed, homeless, bankrupt, and destitute people will stage mass protest rallies. Hunger riots will break out. A revolution will erupt. And as a result, the United States will lose its superpower status.

“I’m not predicting only cannibalism,” the American Nostradamus declared in one of his recent TV interviews. “But I promise that the best Christmas gift will be some kind of food.”

One might think Gerald is insane. Or just a maniac. But here is how leading US media outlets describe him.

CNN: “When we want to know about the main trends, we turn to Gerald Celente.”

CNBC: “There is no better forecaster than Gerald Celente. This man knows what he’s talking about.”

New York Post: “If Nostradamus were alive today, he would hardly keep up with Gerald Celente.”

The Wall Street Journal: “Those who need serious forecasts go to the Trends Research Institute.”

Gerald has headed this institute since 1980, serving as its chief economic analyst, and publishes a monthly journal. In his time, he predicted the collapse of the USSR, the 1987 stock market crash, the Asian currency crisis in 1997. And many other smaller things.

The Dollar Will Fall Very, Very Low

In 2006, the prophet wrote that America faced a prolonged economic downturn, caused by large debts among Americans with low average incomes. The impoverishment of the middle class is also coming. And in 2007, he essentially predicted the current economic crisis, calling the coming year “Panic 2008.”

“We are facing times that none of the living has ever seen,” Gerald frightened two years ago. And now he assures that the dollar will depreciate by 90 percent within the next three years.

Who knows, maybe these prophecies are the roots of our Russian scare stories about the dollar costing 70–100 rubles.

According to Celente’s forecast, the price of gold will rise to $2,000 per ounce. Unfortunately, he is silent about oil. But from the trend he outlines, it appears that oil will also become much more expensive.

The Worse the Prophecies, the More People Believe Them

On the one hand, what seems to give strength to the American Nostradamus’s forecasts are his seemingly accurate hits. But on the other hand… Only a lazy prophet has not predicted the collapse of the USSR, let alone the financial upheavals of the last century. Even Michel Nostradamus himself was spotted doing so, as it turned out more than 500 years later. And he foresaw the coming food crisis: “I sense the approach of a great famine. It will recede, but then become worldwide…” (Century 1, Quatrain 67).

Perhaps Gerald has learned to correctly interpret his colleague Michel? And is he copying? Or is he conducting some secret analysis? Or is he himself a clairvoyant?

Alas, Celente never explains what his revelations are specifically based on. So it is absolutely unclear how seriously they should actually be taken. Though it has been noted: the worse the prophecies, the more people believe them.

Gerald Celente made his first prophecy in 1979. He then heard President Carter’s statement about the Shah of Iran, that the Shah is a bastion of stability in the Middle East. Gerald assessed the situation differently. And he predicted to himself that a revolution was looming in Iran. Believing this, the novice prophet invested all his money in gold and oil, the prices of which soared after the fall of the Shah and the Islamic revolution. With the proceeds, he created his Trends Research Institute. He has been researching ever since. And quite profitably.
