1 Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Jesus Christ, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 to the church of God which is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 I thank my God always for you, because of the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,
5 because in Him you were enriched in everything, in all speech and all knowledge,
6 for the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,
7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
8 who will also confirm you to the end, [that you may be] blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
(1 Cor. 1:1-9)

Psalm 36

1 A Psalm of David.
Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of wrongdoers,
2 for they, like grass, shall soon be cut down, and as the green herb shall wither.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and feed on faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.
6 He will bring forth your righteousness like the light, and your justice like the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, the man who carries out wicked schemes.
8 Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret—it only leads to evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait upon the Lord shall inherit the land.
10 Yet a little while, and the wicked shall be no more; you will look for his place, and he will not be there.
11 But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.
12 The wicked plots against the righteous and gnashes at him with his teeth:
13 the Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming.
14 The wicked draw the sword and bend their bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those who walk uprightly:
15 their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16 Better the little that the righteous man has than the riches of many wicked,
17 for the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.
18 The Lord knows the days of the blameless, and their inheritance shall endure forever:
19 they shall not be put to shame in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied;
20 but the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord, like the fat of lambs, shall be consumed; into smoke they shall vanish.
21 The wicked borrows and does not repay, but the righteous is gracious and gives,
22 for those blessed by Him shall inherit the land, and those cursed by Him shall be cut off.
23 The Lord directs the steps of such a man, and He delights in his way:
24 though he fall, he shall not be hurled headlong, for the Lord holds him by the hand.
25 I have been young and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his descendants begging bread:
26 all day long he is gracious and lends, and his descendants become a blessing.
27 Depart from evil and do good, and you shall live forever;
28 for the Lord loves justice and does not forsake His saints; they are preserved forever; and the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land and dwell in it forever.
30 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue utters justice.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
32 The wicked spies on the righteous and seeks to put him to death;
33 but the Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor let him be condemned when he is judged.
34 Wait on the Lord and keep His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
35 I have seen a wicked man in great power and spreading himself like a leafy tree rooted in its native soil;
36 but he passed away, and behold, he was no more; I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Observe the blameless and look upon the upright, for the future of that man is peace;
38 but transgressors shall all be destroyed together; the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 Salvation for the righteous comes from the Lord; He is their refuge in time of trouble;
40 and the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked and save them, because they trust in Him.
(Ps. 36:1-40)

14 The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But the spiritual man judges all things, yet he himself is judged by no one.
16 For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.

(1 Cor. 2:14-16)

10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honored, but we are dishonored.
11 Even to this present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are poorly clothed and beaten, and homeless;
12 and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure;
13 when slandered, we entreat. We have become as the scum of the world, the offscouring of all things, to this day.
14 I write not these things to shame you, but warn you as my beloved children.
15 For though you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Therefore I urge you: imitate me, as I imitate Christ.

17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church.
(1 Cor. 4:10-17)
