Video: The Fables of Pavel Franchuk as a phenomenon in the church and their consequences

So: I first met Pavel Franchuk while living in Vancouver, Washington. At first, I listened to his stories. I explained the obvious discrepancies from reality as embellishments, which many preachers allow themselves, and perhaps a reckless desire to ‘help’ God in order to increase people’s faith.
Around 1993, Pavel Franchuk invited me to his home in Beaverton, where he questioned me about prison ‘stakan’ cells, expressed a desire to write a book, and claimed that his story surpassed mine. I then exposed his lies in his testimony, because I served in the Soviet army, was a professional hunter, and also went through trial and imprisonment twice, so I know from experience.

Almost all Christians in the former USSR are familiar with Pavel Franchuk’s testimony and his miracles during his service in the Soviet Army.

Where does Pavel Franchuk get such popularity? Pavel Franchuk says: “Do you know Sasha Shevchenko? He and I made 8 video cassettes. These videos are shown in 79 countries!”

Pavel Franchuk traveled to churches in many countries. According to the testimony of Pastor Nikolay Zakharovich Mikhalchuk of the Sulamita church, no one, except one pastor, called to inquire about the truthfulness of Pavel Franchuk’s testimonies and of him as a Christian.

Here are some known facts about Pavel: 13 years ago, Pavel Franchuk with his accomplices — people with highly dubious biographies and dark pasts: Yuri and Alexander Sarkisyan, Pyotr Zalyazhko, and!!! take a deep breath…. “Bishop,” “Teacher,” and Secretary of the Bondaruk brotherhood Nikolay Kotyakov — participated in promoting a financial pyramid to take money from believers. Nikolay Kotyakov and his associates escaped responsibility, while Pavel Franchuk was “punished” by being removed from service in the church.

Pavel Franchuk says that he did not take the oath. At the request of a platoon officer, whose surname he does not remember but who bears the very odd name Ray, he taught a Christian hymn to his platoon, whose surnames he also does not remember.

After performing this hymn on the parade ground, Pavel Franchuk was arrested and kept in a ‘stakan’ cell 80 cm by 80 cm for three months, not even allowed to sit down, let alone sleep. After that, he escaped. Then, after attending a meeting, he realized that he had to return to prison. For the escape, even with a voluntary return, an investigation should have been launched into how the escape from prison was possible, and the escapee should have been convicted. A person after standing in a ‘stakan’ for 3 days, not even months, became disabled, as blood circulation was disrupted and the legs swelled unbearably. It was impossible to walk on such legs.

He was brought to a show trial in the unit. At the trial, an investigator, who shouldn’t have been there, beat Pavel Franchuk, banging his head against the wall. Azerbaijani Muslim soldiers stood up for Pavel Franchuk, calling him ‘mullah’ because of his faith. They rescued Pavel Franchuk, for which they were all imprisoned. Pavel Franchuk was taken to the taiga to be destroyed without trial. The exhaust gases in the vehicle were directed into the cabin of the GAZ-66 truck, possibly to suffocate him. He was driven for three days through deep snow along the Bira River, whose valley is 424 km long. He returned by keeping to the Bira River for seven months, from December to July. He was dressed not according to regulations, in a summer cotton uniform and a jacket, at minus 21°C, with no matches, no mess tin, no food, only an axe and a knife that the officers who took him to the taiga gave him for two weeks. Pavel Franchuk miraculously learned to catch sable and partridge, which he ate.
After 7 months, he returned to the unit with raw sable skins and sold 30 of them for 100 rubles each to the officers, who apologized for taking him out to die. These officers should have been convicted for losing a man. Pavel Franchuk could have been convicted under Article 154 for unlicensed sable hunting and illegal sale—speculation—sentenced from 2 to 7 years with confiscation of property.
While traveling to the unit, Pavel was bitten hundreds of times by encephalitis ticks, and he became ill five years later.

Nikolay Mikhalchuk confirmed Pavel Franchuk’s pathological lying in all his stories, and partially about his healing; he confirmed his removal from service due to a fraudulent financial scheme in the church. Pastor Nikolay Mikhalchuk did not inform the Church of Jesus Christ about Pavel Franchuk’s lies, did not admonish him for lying, and did not excommunicate him for this mortal sin.

According to Pavel Franchuk’s story, he was expelled from the USSR by court order. He does not know that only the Supreme Soviet of the USSR could make a decision on expulsion. Can you imagine Franchuk next to the former political prisoner, writer and Nobel laureate Solzhenitsyn and Vladimir Bukovsky? Can you? It’s a mental hospital case, isn’t it!

Pavel Franchuk was one of the ministers of the largest church in Portland, “Sulamita”, where the presbyter is Nikolay Zakharovich Mikhalchuk. He said to Sasha Shans about Franchuk: “Yes, I know he lies, but people like it!”
So where does your money go when you donate to Pavel Franchuk, naively thinking you are giving to God? Pavel Franchuk, one of the first emigrants in the Portland-Vancouver area, according to him bought — though another testimony says he lived there under a Section 8 program — a house in the prestigious Beaverton neighborhood, where Jews like to settle. Then about 15 years ago, he built a house where successful Ukrainian, Romanian, and Russian people live.

Pavel Franchuk was summoned to the military enlistment office; they took away his soldier’s military ID, gave him a senior lieutenant’s military ID, and sent him to Afghanistan. He travels on a commuter train (diesel) to Afghanistan from Berdichev to Kiev. He wakes up at the Zhulyany station in Kiev, where he gets up, and at Kiev-Zhulyany airport they give him a ticket to Riga, where he hides on a collective farm for the next 7 years from Soviet authorities. Then he returns to Berdichev, is tried, and expelled from the USSR.

USSR Minister of Railways Ivan Pavlovsky received workshop manager Pavel Franchuk, a member of the “fanatical” Pentecostal sect, in Moscow, to inquire how Franchuk had come up with so many rationalization proposals.

Socialist Labor Shock Worker Pavel Franchuk, when he worked as a workshop manager (how could a believer hold such a position without a party card?) on the railway, building bridges and tunnels (and where in the flat Zhytomyr region are there tunnels?). Pavel Franchuk became the head of a workshop at a railway depot at the age of 23 (immediately after graduating from the Dnepropetrovsk Institute of Railway Transport Engineers — DIIT). How could a non‑party member, who had refused to join the Pioneers, the Komsomol, and to take the oath in the Soviet army, who had been convicted in the army, young (23 years old!), and a member of a “fanatical” Pentecostal sect (according to Soviet psychiatry) become a workshop manager?!!!? Pavel Franchuk received the largest bonus for a rationalization proposal (!).
The workshop manager Pavel Franchuk was received by the USSR Minister of Railways, Ivan Grigorievich Pavlovsky (1977–82), to inquire how Franchuk had so many rationalization proposals!
Pavel Franchuk’s illness was written about in a newspaper with condolences, so many people heard about him, even the USSR Minister of Railways, Ivan Pavlovsky!

The police “served” Pavel Franchuk in the city of Berdichev, Zhytomyr region, directing people from the railway station to Franchuk’s home. This is similar to how the police also directed people from the station in Korosten to the church of Nikolai Markiyanovich Kaminsky, another exporter of the Tallinn wind to Ukraine, who had no problems with the authorities. Pavel Franchuk was the head of a workshop at a railway depot at the age of 23. Pious people have always been used by religious con men against the true witnesses of Jesus Christ. Remember the Apostle Paul and the pious women.

They tried to take Pavel Franchuk to the military commissariat at night, but he fled on a commuter train to Zhulyany in Kyiv and from there to Riga, where he spent 7 years and earned tens of thousands of rubles! He tells all these stories, because he works only 4 months a year, and the rest of the time he travels around churches, where every time after his stories he collects money.

Christians need a public video repentance from Pavel Franchuk on the Internet, preferably on Sasha Shevchenko’s program. The repentance of his wife Susanna Franchuk (née Durshpek) for her lies, because she supported her husband. Christians need the repentance of the pastors of the Sulamita church for not stopping the Franchuks’ lie and allowing them to deceive the faithful, for not caring about the souls of the Franchuks mired in mortal sin — lying for money.
Should we not deal with the money received through Franchuk’s lie as Zacchaeus did — that is, restore fourfold? After all, the income on which Pavel Franchuk lived for at least 10 years came from his stories, and the Franchuks did not work at ordinary jobs.
Christians need the repentance of the pastors who received Franchuk and thereby willingly or unwillingly spread this lie. For some reason, nobody bothered to inquire about Franchuk’s reputation from his own church pastor — the authority of his stories was high.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. (2 Tim. 4:3–5).

We are not talking only about Pavel Franchuk, but about a whole profession of storytellers who travel around churches and replace real faith in Jesus Christ with fables. People groan in the churches because of the number of storytellers, the time taken up by stories, and the final collection of money. This business has been put on a broad footing by Alexander Shevchenko, who trades in other people’s biographies and, to support his business, often invites storytellers with unverified stories, as a result of which truth becomes unsought.

Pavel Franchuk and others exploit your faith in the Son of God and your faith in God’s miracle and healing. It is so easy, while expecting a miracle, to trust any testimony without verification or questioning. Often sincere questions are regarded as lack of faith. But the Word of God says that we should test all things and hold fast to what is good. And knowing that something is a lie, to put up with it is spiritual fornication, which has defiled many who transported and deliberately allowed liars to deceive you, ordinary believers. They should have inquired and obtained a testimony about Pavel Franchuk from the Sulamita church. But according to Nikolai Mikhalchuk’s testimony, this was not done.

Instead, he toured, recorded video programs with Sasha Shevchenko, was received in mafia‑style churches in America, and lied on the platform in Zbuzh together with Radchuk, where great Western Ukrainian prophets and pastors were present. Was Franchuk’s lie really not visible? Perhaps one can say of some what Jesus Christ said: they are blind leaders of the blind! Therefore it is necessary to leave such churches where covering up lies is observed for the sake of church numbers and where repentance is rejected; and to find healthier assemblies.

Extract from the decision of the brotherly council of Sulamita Church of 10 May 2011 regarding the “testimonies” of Pavel Franchuk.

Pavel Franchuk, as a member of the Sulamita church, for many years visited various Christian communities with a testimony (as we thought) about his miraculous healing, which was indeed granted to him by the Lord’s mercy on 16 October 1982, and to which there are many witnesses.

As a result of his visits, we have recently been receiving numerous reports of Pavel F.’s extraordinary miraculous adventures. After a careful analysis of his stories posted on the Internet, and also noting inconsistencies in dates, hearing witnesses (relatives, fellow countrymen, and acquaintances of Pavel F.), we decided to invite Pavel F. to give an explanation before the church’s brotherhood council.

We give several examples from the conversation that took place.

Pavel’s testimony in Germany – I graduated from the Vinnytsia Railway Technical School, but because I was not a Komsomol member, they didn’t give me a diploma…

Question to Pavel – So they didn’t give you a diploma?

Answer – …they gave it… only later.

Testimony of his fellow student – …Well, how could they not give it! We were awarded them together in a ceremonial setting — to him, to me, to everyone.

Pavel’s testimony in Germany – Then I enrolled in the Khabarovsk Institute. Studied for 2 years… transferred to the Dnipropetrovsk Institute… 2 years… transferred to the Kiev Institute …2 years… altogether six years of full-time study, but they didn’t give me a diploma because I was not a Komsomol member.

Question to Pavel – When did you study?

Answer – after the army… by correspondence…

None of his relatives or acquaintances ever heard about this study, because it never happened.

Testimony about army service – They drove me in a truck for three and a half days along the (ice-covered) Bira River, deep into the taiga. There they threw me out to die of frost… I made my way back over 7.5 months. My landmark and path to people was the Bira River. I returned along it. God gave me extraordinary hearing. I heard everything. The sounds of birds, the sounds of wild animals, I heard it all.

Question to Pavel – Did you hear the sounds of car horns, the roar of engines, the clatter of trains?

Pavel’s answer – no, I didn’t hear…

Reference. The Bira River, from Birobidzhan to the northwest as far as its source, is about 320 km long. Along its left bank, parallel to it, runs the Trans-Siberian Railway, as well as a highway. Both routes often literally pass along the river bank, and in one place the road crosses the river.

Moreover, along the entire length of the river there are about 10 settlements on its banks. What kind of deserted taiga can we be talking about?

We advise anyone interested to look at a map of that area.

Pavel F.’s testimony – my relatives and loved ones received news that I had gone missing… you know how many prayers were offered in churches… how many prayers…. Mother said – ‘we realized that you would never return home…’.

According to the testimony of relatives and acquaintances – No news of Pavel’s disappearance ever came, no prayers were offered; moreover, relatives had a regular correspondence, 1-2 letters a month, without interruption.

Pavel F.’s testimony – I hid from persecution in the Baltic region for 7.5 years.

Testimony of relatives and acquaintances – he came to the Baltic region at an invitation to work (a moonlighting job) in 1986. He left for America in 1989.

Information that surfaced after the conversation.

Pavel Franchuk was in mid-July 1976 at a wedding in Birobidzhan, as a friend of the groom Anatoly Zhuravlev; the bride was Inna Novak. Civilian clothes were kindly offered to Franchuk by Anatoly Belka.

The ceremony was performed by Semyon Belka. This event coincides in time with Franchuk’s stories about the final stage of his «taiga epic».

For all the eyewitnesses of that wedding, Pavel’s stories today are stunning news.

We suspect that Inna Novak in Pavel’s stories is that same KGB agent Inna, who was sent, who repented through Pavel and became a true Christian together with Valera (her fiancé), and that he was at her wedding and, together with the pastor, laid hands on her. (this information has not been verified)

As a result of the conversation, to our great dismay, Pavel F. did not admit his guilt in deceiving thousands of Christians around the world with made-up stories. Moreover, he cast a shadow of distrust upon a true God-given miracle of healing. Based on the above, the brotherhood council of the Sulamita Church, consisting of 16 people, made the following decision:

To place Pavel Franchuk on watch, with the aim of his repentance for the deception.
To forbid Pavel to participate in any church ministries, and also to present himself anywhere as a minister on behalf of the Sulamita Church.
To refrain from participating in the breaking of bread.

We very much hope that these disciplinary measures will help Pavel Franchuk to choose the only right path — repentance for lying before God, and also to have the courage to ask forgiveness from the many whom he so shamelessly and incomprehensibly deceived.

P.S. The day after the conversation, Pavel Franchuk called Pastor Nikolay Mikhalchuk and informed him of his intention to leave the church and possibly move to another state.

Now the repentance of Pavel Franchuk is posted there. Although he continues to lie to people over the phone. Here is what he said to our reader and his admirer Svetlana Belyak: «This is what Pavel said. He indeed came forward in the church in repentance, his repentance was before God, not for untruth of the testimonies, but for inaccuracies in wording.

Then I asked him. On one of the websites it was written that while Pavel was in the taiga, his relatives were receiving letters from Pavel. And this indicates that Pavel is telling untruth regarding the taiga. I asked Pavel whether his mother received letters from him during that time, he said no, and she can confirm it, but they don’t ask her.
Now my reflections: there is no logic in writing to relatives but not to the mother. If someone might think he didn’t care for his mother, that would be untrue, because the mother, to this day, lives with Pavel and he cares for her. Mother did not receive letters at that time. Mother is 76 years old, of sound mind, and she can confirm all this, but no one has asked her.»

His children all serve the Lord, all stand firmly behind their father, because they know his life. There was a message on the forums that Pavel has left the membership of the «Sulamita» church. But this is not true; he is a member of the «Sulamita» church.»

So that’s the kind of repentance… And it is evident that in the «Sulamita» church they also accepted this as repentance, otherwise why would they, instead of examining Franchuk’s lies, put out information that the man repented. It should be reminded that the future of liars is in the lake of fire. Apparently they do not believe this.

Questions from the Christian brotherhood:

Is it possible that Nikolai Zakharovich and the «Sulamita» church did not know that Pavel Franchuk testified not only about his healing but also about “adventures”? After all, Pavel Franchuk did not preach lies only abroad. Pavel Franchuk preached this locally, and the 125,000-strong Portland-Vancouver diaspora knew and heard his stories for 20 years!

Why then did the leadership of the «Sulamita» church not decide to excommunicate the liar, who according to Revelation 21:8 will burn in the lake of fire, from the church? After all, according to the testimony of Sasha Shans, Nikolai Mikhalchuk knew about Pavel Franchuk’s lies, but explained his condescension toward him by saying that people like it.

Such storytellers are profitable for modern anti-churches, which replace the absence of the Holy Spirit’s action with fantastic stories of anti-Christian fable-mongers who have lost their conscience because of covetousness. Moreover, money is collected under such lying fables, part of which ends up with anti-pastors.

Why was it only with our intervention that the church was forced to make a decision when the very question of the church’s conformity to its essence arose?
