Video of police beatings of believers in Voronezh region
ARRC press center provided us with unique footage that Boris Perchatkin brought back from his latest trip to Russia.
From footage shot with an amateur camera by believers in Central Russia, one can see how law enforcement officers beat Christians, roughly handle their children, and beat and choke the pastor of a Pentecostal church.
Letters from imprisoned Pentecostals in Yakutia were also read aloud, in which they describe how law enforcement officers abuse them – breaking ribs, knocking out teeth, forcing them to stand undressed in the cold for many hours.
“I am afraid that if international human rights organizations do not intervene in what is happening to evangelical believers in Russia, very soon the same fate will befall other countries,” says Boris Perchatkin.
“I am already receiving alarming signals from Ukraine that a full-scale harassment of Protestants is underway in Ukrainian mass media. And indeed, that is exactly how it started in Russia. Therefore, I think Protestants need to be more active in defending their rights.
The Soviet Union already proved: the more Christians adapt and follow the lead of a non-Christian ideology according to the principle ‘the quieter you go, the farther you’ll get,’ the sadder the consequences turn out to be for Christianity as a whole.”
