Moscow. April 29. – The Russian United Union of Christians of Evangelical Faith (Pentecostals) (ROSKhVE) of Bishop Sergei Ryakhovsky has stated that FSB officers are intensively trying to recruit representatives of this religious organization for cooperation.

Lately, there have been increasingly frequent attempts to recruit informants from among parishioners, employees, and clergy of Protestant churches by officers of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, – states the statement by the head of administration of ROSKhVE, Bishop Konstantin Bendas, the text of which is published on Wednesday on the ROSKhVE website.

The author cites a quote from the federal law of April 3, 1995 “On the Federal Security Service,” which states that “it is prohibited to use confidential assistance on a contractual basis by deputies, judges, prosecutors, lawyers, minors, clergy, and authorized representatives of officially registered religious organizations.” K. Bendas proposed a whole series of recommendations for believers and ministers in case they “receive proposals in any form for meetings, contacts, cooperation, or provision of information.”

In conclusion, K. Bendas stated that the Union is ready, if necessary, to conduct “educational lectures and seminars on legal awareness” both for clergy and members of Protestant churches, “as well as directly for FSB officers and other so-called ‘power’ agencies.”
