On Sergey Zhuravlev’s page on mail.ru, a blog post was published about an alarming situation in Ukraine.
The criminal elements who came to power with Yanukovych and the Party of Regions have begun destroying the very foundation of freedom in Ukraine, systematically annihilating the freedom of all freedoms – freedom of conscience.
The Ukrainian Association of Religious Freedom (UARF) on Wednesday, November 3, issued a statement declaring a deterioration in inter-confessional relations in the country.
According to UARF experts, the reason is “the special attitude of government officials towards one church and the de facto discrimination of all others.” As UARF director Viktor Yelensky stated, President Viktor Yanukovych gives preference to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and ignores the interests of other confessions.

“During his presidency, Viktor Yanukovych has met three times with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, and not once with representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate, the Ukrainian Autocephalous Church, and the confessions that make up the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches, which together unite almost 90% of believers,” Yelensky stated.
According to him, local authorities refuse all confessions, except the UOC-MP, allocation of land plots for the construction of religious buildings.
Reference. UARF is a non-profit organization that researches church life and inter-confessional relations. It was founded in 2001 and is a branch of the International Religious Liberty Association, established in 1893 in the USA.
